Lytchett Bay View (formerly Border Road) conservation area abutts the natural shoreline of Lytchett Bay and is owned by Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council, being about 9 acres in size, partially wooded, with a small stream running through it.

Part of the area is natural ground, and currently has a maze of paths to allow access for people and dogs. This area houses a diversity of flora and fauna, and we have had discussions with Natural England, who are keen to see us apply for Local Nature Reserve Status.

Lytchett Bay Nature Reserve Annual Report

Phase 1
Saw the successfull bid for funding from Carillion and Dorset Community Action. This has enabled us to create a natural path leading to the shoreline.

Phase 2
Funding has successfully been awarded from Awards for All and we have improved the area by adding notice/information boards, additional seating/litter/dog bins.

This area has been described as 'the jewel in our crown' by In Bloom judges, and we are certainly keen to ensure that this area is preserved for future generations.

IN JULY 2010 - This area was graded as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest and we are working to achieve Local Nature Reserve Status.
